It’s with sadness and heavy hearts that we have decided not to proceed with ECITE in August 2020. The current restrictions on travel and social distancing and the lack of a clear idea for when restrictions could be eased make it very difficult to proceed with an event of this kind this year. As a team, our desire is to postpone the event and we are currently considering options for this. With warm wishes.
An event which allows CI teachers and facilitators to meet once a year in a different country in Europe for an intensive week, of exchange and practice, to expand and challenge the principles and transmission of CI. In 2020 it happens 22-30 August in the UK: the part that still feels European!
Our theme for ECITE 2020 is "Radical Contact: roots & rhizomes" and we envision it embodying the diversity of those engaged with teaching, researching (and/or performing) CI in Europe and beyond.
4 Dance studios

Off site but close by

We've tried to keep the cost of the event to a minimum
Alistair is a contact dancer, Somatic Movement Educator (BMC) and a craiosacral thearapist (CST) I teach regular in Bristol and the south west of England and have been dancing CI for over 12 years. I enjoy bringing the somatic work into my CI teaching, and I'm curious how learning from CST can be applied.
I am a dancer, performance artist, yoga and somatic practitioner. I have practiced the form of contact improvisation since 1996, and have integrated this with studies in yoga, developmental movement and energy healing. I am a senior lecturer in dance at the University of Bedfordshire.
The meeting of another in following with utter commitment the dance between earth and sky reveals untold mysteries. The just so fit of body with body never ceases to please this body. In sensing, softening, and surrendering, souls can whisper of healing, longing, and home.
For the first half of my life, I related to others only through words - and they defined my understanding of the world & sense of self - when I discovered Contact Improvisation, it opened up fascinating new ways of knowing and meeting.
